Master of Port Scandinavia 2025

A Competition of Excellence
The MASTER OF PORT competition celebrates a protected designation of origin, Port, produced in the Douro Demarcated Region, the oldest demarcated and regulated region in the world (1756), and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is organized by the Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e do Porto, I.P. (IVDP, IP).
Prizes
The winner of the “Master of Port” award receives recognition from the entire sommelier profession and becomes a Port ambassador for Scandinavia. The winner is also given a silver Port cup with the inscription “Master of Port”, a “Master of Port” pin, and a selection of premium Port wines.
The finalists will also receive a selection of premium Ports.

Year 2025
The semifinal and the final will be held on Sunday the 19th of October and on Monday the 20th of October 2025 in Hotel D’Angleterre in Copenhagen.
Sunday 19th of October
- 13h00-17h00 – Semi Final: Written and practical exams and test of Port knowledge and serving skills.
- 17h00 Jury deliberations.

Monday 20th of October
- 13h00 The names of the three finalists will be announced.
- 13h30-16h30 Final: Final exams focused on Port knowledge and service skills.
- 17h00 – Masterclass “Innovation through Legacy”, led by Manuel Lima, Head of the Testing Service at the Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e do Porto, I. P. (IVDP, I. P.).
- 18h45: Buffet dinner during which the winner of the competition will be announced
Year 2024
Master of Port Scandinavia Program
24.9. online masterclass at Ruusulankatu 18 from 16:00 until 18:00 (Helsinki time)
30.9. online multiple choice exam at Ruusulankatu 18 from 11:00 until 12:00 (60minutes)

14.-16.10. Quarter final in Porto, Portugal
The quarter finalists are hosted by the IVDP. The cost of accommodation in Porto, air travel
(return from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland to Porto) and the meals (lunch)
included in the study trip programme will be provided by the IVDP, IP.
