The Best Sommelier of the Nordics 2024

The competition for Best Sommelier of the Nordics 2024 takes place in Oslo Norway this year on October 12-13.

The representatives for Finland are Dmitri Frolov from Olo Collections, who won the Best Sommelier of Finland 2024 and Aino Tuomikoski from Baskeri & Basso, who became second in the Best Sommelier of Finland 2024.
All Nordic countries will have two representatives.

12.-13.10.2024 The Best Sommelier of the Nordics 2024 competition took place in Oslo, Norway.

Finnish candidate Dmitrii Frolov from Olo Collections made it to the respectful 3rd place!
Swedish Martin Mortensen is the new champion and Norwegian Nikolai Haram Svorte the runner up.

On Saturday 12.10. the 10 candidates with guest candidate Joris Garcia from Canada went through a blind tasting of three white wines and two spirits, answered to a 60 question theory paper and showed off their talent in six different practical tasks. The tasks included three different tea tasks, improvement suggestions to a wine list of a new restaurant, serving of red wine by the glass and preparing and serving a Tequila Sunrise cocktail!
And the three best ones made it through to the finale on Sunday 13.10.
The finale started of with a full organoleptic analyze of two wines. After which the finale stage served as a restaurant for the competitors and they took good care of their guests by serving them sweet wine by the glass, decanted a magnum bottle of red wine and also recommended different sparkling wines for a 5 course menu!
